Evans, Marcum and Lewis win at Mt Lawn

Eric Evans, of Greenfield, won for the first time in 2010 in Late Model action at Mt Lawn Speedway.  Joe Woodring of Muncie took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led lap one.  Scott Knepley of Greensboro took over on lap two and led until Evans moved to the front on lap ten.  Knepley slid to third on lap nineteen when Jeff Marcum of Morristown moved into second.  The trio stayed that way the rest of the race with Marcum right on Evans bumper.  Kevin Claborn of Cambridge City finished fourth followed by Ralph Lane of Greensburg, Woodring and Bill Pierce of New Castle.  Marcum set fast time at 16.657 with Evans winning the Razzles Dash for Cash and the heat.  Ross Lane of Greensburg blew an engine on lap two of the heat and was done for the evening.

In the 50 lap Founders Day feature for the Thompson Builders Thunder Cars Ed Knott of Muncie led the first seven laps until Jameson Owens of Greenfield took over and led the next three laps.  Neil Marcum of Morristown took the lead of the race on lap eleven and led the rest of the way.  Neil got a lot of heat from Brother Jeff over the final half of the race.  Jeff appeared to finish second but his car failed post race technical inspection and was disqualified.  The disqualification of Marcum gave second place to Kevin Claborn of Cambridge City who was followed by brother Eddie Claborn of Knightstown, Owens, Frankie Oakes of Cambridge City, Andrew Walker of Sulphur Springs, Chris Bolyard of Rushville, Kyle Evans of Shirley, Knott, Jesse Bilbrey of Markleville, Gordon Guffey of New Castle and Cody Lane of Knightstown.  Fast time was set by Kevin Claborn at 17.907 who also was awarded the win in the Thompson Builders Dash for Cash by virtue of the Jeff Marcum disqualification.

The MC Auto Repair Hornet 50 lap Founders Day feature saw Jacob Wyman of Selma take the lead at the start but was black flagged for running more that .3 of a second faster than he qualified.  That gave the top spot to Brian Reynolds of Mooreland.  Reynolds would hold the lead until lap 24 when Brian Lewis of Indianapolis would take over and lead the rest of the way.  The yellow flag came out on lap 26 when Reynolds and Brian Slavey of New Castle tangled in the short turn sending Reynolds to the pits with a damaged race.  After a brief discussion of track officials it was determined Slavey should sit out the race of the race for aggressive driving.   On lap 37 Jared Keller of Anderson moved around Joyce Dyer of Greenfield for second and set his sights on Lewis.  At lap 43 Keller moved along side of Lewis and the two would stay that way the rest of the race.  Keller actually led lap 46 and when the white flag flew only a few inches separated first and second.  Upon exiting turn two, on the final lap, the Lewis cars slid up the race track into the Keller automobile causing Keller to go off the track and into the wall.  Lewis went on to take the checkered flag with second going to Ryan Claborn of Cambridge City followed by Josh Neal of New Castle, Freddie Marlow of New Castle, Emily Henderson of New Castle, Jeff Sorrell of New Castle, Doug Sorrell of Mooreland, James Poff of New Castle, Scott Kilgore of New Castle and Keller.  Fast time was set by Keller at 19.496 and Lewis won the MC Auto Repair Dash for Cash.
