2011 MT LAWN LATE MODEL RULES

ELIGIBLE CARS

1. The only eligible frame is a General Motors 1978 to 1987; "G" body, 108.1", metric frame. All

measurements, lines, holes, etc. must retain the manufacturer's specifications.

2. Minimum weight for all cars is 2800 lbs. Maximum weight is 2950.

3.Sponsor logos and Mt. Lawn decals must be displayed.

FRAME AND ROLL CAGE

1. No modifications can be made to the main frame except for bumper horns. Rear bumper horns

cannot be altered forward of a line at the center of the rear tires. Front bumper horns cannot be

altered within 20" of the center of the front spring pockets. Frame may be plated for strength.

Bracing between frame rails is allowed.

2. Front Cross member, suspension mounts and lower A-frames on the front frame sections

MUST REMAIN O.E.M. and may not be altered or moved.

3. All cars must have a roll cage that includes four corner posts roof high that are all connected at

the top and welded to the frame at the bottom.

4. Front hoop and bumper must remain inside of the body and nosepiece. Cage center section

must be braced back to the frame rails.

5. Roll cage must be centered between the frame rails.

6. All cars must have four door bars on the left side that arch out to the door skin and two door

bars on the right side. All joints must be properly welded.

7. All cages must have a 1/4" aluminum or 1/8" steel plate on the outside of the drivers door bars,

running from the frame rail to the top door bar and from doorpost to doorpost.

8. All roll cage tubing must be a minimum 1.70" O.D. and a minimum .095 wall thickness. NO

MUFFLER TUBING.

9. All roll cage installatins are subject to tech inspection.

ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS

1. All engines must be cast iron Factory Production V8 engines (GM, Ford, or Chrysler).

2. All engines must use cast iron cylinder heads. (Maximum 2 valves per cylinder).

3. All GM cars must use a stock HEI battery type ignition system. Three wire modules only. (No

MSD boxes and NO add on ignition amplifiers.) Ford and Chrysler products may use an after

market distributor. (NO MSD boxes and NO add on ignition amplifiers.)

4. One 2 or 4 barrel carburetor may be used. Carburetor must be naturally aspirated with no

electronics, NO TRACTION CONTROL!

6. No fuel injection allowed.

7. No external oil pumps allowed.

8. No dry sump systems allowed.

9. Stock or high volume oil pumps are allowed. Any type oil pick-up is allowed.

10. All engines must be located with the 2nd sparkplug on the right side no farther back than the center of the right front spring pocket.

11. Fabricated motor mounts are allowed. Engines must be located so the center of the

crankshaft is at least 10" off the ground.

12. Cross over type header will be allowed.

13. Maximum exhaust pipe dia. 3 1/2 ". Minimum exhaust pipe length is 35". (This is to protect

the driver from fumes.)

14. The exhaust system may not run through any part of the driver's area. Frames may not be

notched for clearance. Exhaust must empty parallel with the racing surface.

15. No electric or belt drive fuel pumps, fuel cooling devices, (cool cans) alcohol or nitrous

systems allowed.

16. All cars must use approved racing fuel.

COOLING SYSTEM

1. Radiator must be mounted in the conventional manner.

2. No clutch fans are allowed. Fan shroud must not cover any part of the motor.

3. Antifreeze will not be allowed. Overflow hose must run to right side of windshield.

DRIVE LINE

1. All cars must use an O.E.M. factory production transmission, made for use in American made

cars and light trucks. No aftermarket racing transmissions allowed. (jerico, jasper... etc.)

2. Cars with an O.E.M. type fly-wheel and pressure plate must have explosion-proof bell housing.

3. Drive shafts and yokes must be steel with two hoops.

4. 9" Ford, 7.5" GM rear-end with 4 link mounting and disc brakes may be used. No cambered

rear-ends. No bending, twisting or rotating of axle tubes disc brakes on rear allowed.

5. No aluminum housing allowed or no aluminum 3rd members/ pig / gear...

6. Differentials may be open or locked. When locked, they; may be welded securely or use a mini

spool device. No limited slip devices, posi-trac, clutch, cone, or ratchet type units allowed.

7. Any gear ratio that is readily available for the rear-end will be allowed.

FRONT SUSPENSION

1. The maximum track width of 75" will be measured outside of tire tread to outside of tire tread.

2. Weight jacks must only be adjustable from outside of the car. (No hydraulic, electric or air

adjusters allowed.)

3. After market upper A-Frames are allowed. But they must be mounted with the O.E.M. straight

shaft on the O.E.M mounts.

4. Lower A-frames and mounts must remain O.E.M. for the General Motor's 1978-1987 "G" body,

108.1" metric frame. Heavy duty ball joints are allowed.

5. Cars are allowed one shock at each wheel. No air shocks or coil-overs will be allowed.

6. The only shocks legal for competition are the Pro WB steel series, QA1 59 Series, Carrera 21 Series and the AFCO 12 “FB” Series.

7. Front sway bar must be stock, One peice bar. Mounts may be adjustable. No spline bar's.

8. After market coil springs may be used. Minimum outside diameter 5".

REAR SUSPENSION

1. Weight jacks must only be adjustable from outside of the car. (No hydraulic, electric or air

adjusters allowed.)

2. No springs or shocks are allowed on the control arms. Top trailing arm mount may be moved,

must not exceed 12 1/2" in length. Lower trailing arm  must be located on the O.E.M. mount at

the chassis. No Panhard bars allowed.

3. Rear springs must sit on O.E.M. location. Upper spring pocket may be modified for jack bolts.

4. Wheelbase must be 108" + or - 1"

5. No rear sway bars allowed.

6. Trailing Arms : Top - min. length 10 1/2 ", max. length 12 1/2"

Bottom - min. length 18", max. length 20"

Will be measured center of bolt to center of bolt.

Aftermarket dual master cylinder and pedals are allowed.

BODY / INTERIOR

1. All cars must run complete late model bodies, including roof, that resemble stock make and

model.  Must have model of car displayed.

2. Full Front windshield is mandatory

3. Each car must be neatly painted and have an approved number, 18" high on both sides of the

car and on the top of the car facing the right side.

4. Top spoilers or wings are not allowed. Rear spoiler must not exceed 6" and MUST BE MADE

OF CLEAR LEXAN ! Rear spoilers may not extend more than 5" behind rear bumper. The

Maximum spoiler area is 360 square inches.

5. No other aerodynamic devices of any kind will be allowed.

6. REAR QUARTER PANEL HEIGHTH 36" from ground to top of quarter panel.

7. All cars must have an enclosed drivers compartment consisting of a front and rear firewall and

floorpan with all holes covered.

8. Centerline of all bumpers must be 16" off the ground and can not extend beyond the center of

the tires. All rear bumpers must be capped to prevent tire cutting.

9.  Front bumpers must be mounted inside of the nosepiece.

11. No car will be allowed to start a race without a hood unless damaged in previous incident that

night.

12. Minimum roof heighth 48" Maximum width of any part of car, side to side 74"

SAFETY

1. Fire Bottle system is highly recommended, on board fire extinguisher is mandatory.

2. All fuel tank vents must have a check valve for rollover protection. (A pcv valve and a short

hose is acceptable.)

3. Minimum ground clearance for fuel cell is 10".

4. The battery must be securely mounted outside of the driver's compartment and must be

covered to prevent spills.

5. All cars must have an approved racing seat as tall as the driver's shoulders and mounted

securely to the frame or cage. No plastic or fiberglass seats.

6. All cars must have a five point seat belt and shoulder harness min. 3" wide and bolted to the

frame and cage. The tech officials will inspect belts. Hans, Hutchens or neck collar is

mandatory.

7. All drivers must comply with the following minimum safety recommendations:

A. An approved racing helmet. Snell 95 or higher.

B. An approved fire suit.

C. An approved 5-point harness and crotch belt. Min. 3" wide. Belts must not be older

than three years.

D. Window net is mandatory.

E. The battery must be secured in a covered battery box to prevent spills.

F. Two drive shaft loops 6" rearward of the front u-joint and 6" forward of the rear u-joint.

G. The drive shaft must be painted white.

H. All ballast/weights must be painted white with the car # in black.

I. A suitable place for the wrecker to hook up in the front and rear.

WHEELS AND TIRES

1. All cars must use 15" x 8" steel racing wheels.

2. One inch lug nuts are mandatory.

3. No wide 5's allowed.

4. Only  Goodyear G-24 Eagle #2864 and #2865 tires purchased through Mt Lawn Speedway or its approved outlet will be allowed.

? 1. None of these rules are meant to imply or guarantee if followed these said rules will

prevent injury or death.

? 2. The definition of stock part: A part that was mass-produced for the auto industry, not

aftermarket.

? 3. The definition of O.E.M. : As it was produced by the original manufacturer for the

make, model and year of a particular car or style of car. ( Original Equipment from

Manufacturer )

? 4. Any subject not specifically addressed in these rules does not imply approval.

? 5. The interpretation and intent of these rules and any subject not specifically addressed

in these rules will be left to the discretion of the track officials. Track officials reserve the

right to inspect any part of any car at any time. ILLEGAL parts will be confiscated and

kept.
