2011 Mt. Lawn Speedway Thunder Car Rules
ELIGIBLE MODELS
1. Any rear wheel drive
full-sized car with a wheelbase of not less than 113
inches is eligible. No
T-tops. No Monte
Carlos older than 1978 after the 2011 season.
2. Minimum weight 3200
lbs
4. All lead must be
painted white with car number, and bolted to frame.
BODY AND FRAME
5. Complete bumper to
bumper steel body and frame must be retained.
6. The O.E.M steel floor
pan, firewalls must remain.
7. The only modifications
allowed to the floor pan, firewalls are to repair rusted areas and patch
holes.
8. Frames must remain
O.E.M.
9. A switch and push
button may replace the key switch. Steel rod with Heim may be used for
steering column.
10. All doors must be
welded chained or bolted shut.
11. All bumpers must be
secured by means other than O.E.M. (extra bolts, chains or welded in
place.)
12. Front and rear hoop
bars are allowed.
13. All glass,
headlights, taillights, and mirrors must be removed, except for the front
windshield.
14. Full front windshield
is required, lexan is allowed.
ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS
15. Engine must be in
O.E.M. location.
16. No modifications of
O.E.M. heads and intakes is allowed, such as porting
or polishing.
17. Cast iron cylinder heads only,
must be straight plug.
18. Engine swapping
between makes is not allowed.
19. Engine must be from
the same corporation as the body and frame.
20. All cars must have
O.E.M. cast iron exhaust manifolds. No center dump styles allowed.
21. Exhaust must
terminate behind driver within 18 inches of rearend
housing.
22. Maximum exhaust pipe
outside diameter is 2 1/2 inches.
23. A maximum of 2
exhaust pipes. No 3" or 4" collectors will be allowed.
24. Carburetors must be
O.E.M. for the make and model of the car.
25. All intakes must be
cast iron.
26. One carburetor gasket
allowed and no carburetor spacers allowed.
27. Box Stock 4412 may be
used with $150.00 claim rule or swap for an identical model
carburetor from claimers car.
28. Ignition system must
remain completely O.E.M. No aftermarket distributors, MSD boxes or
addon electoronic
amplifiers will be allowed.
29. Aftermarket aluminum
radiators are allowed, overflow hose must exit at
right side windshield.
30. Radiator must be in
original location.
31. No antifreeze
allowed.
32. All cars must use an
O.E.M. automatic transmission with at least 3 forward gears and reverse.
33. O.E.M. rear end
housing must be used, OPEN rear ends only. One wheel drive rear end only.
34. Cars must have
functional brakes on all four wheels. Brakes must be O.E.M.
35. No brake bias devices
allowed.
SUSPENSION
36. FRAMES MUST MAINTAIN
6" GROUND CLEARANCE.
37. The following
suspension parts must remain absolutely O.E.M. and unaltered for the make
and model of car. A-Frames, Spindles, Shock Mounts, Spring Pockets, and
Cross Members.
38. The right and left
side of the frame must measure within one inch of level.
39. All cars must use
steel wheels. No mag, aluminum or slotted wheels
allowed.
40. Maximum wheel width
8".
41. No wheel spacers
allowed.
Only stock appearing steel bodied shocks will be allowed
. No racing shocks or take apart shocks. Jack bolts allowed on rear only.
TIRES
42. Only DOT Passenger Car radial tires will be
allowed. Only sizes allowed are P205 –
75/15 or P215 -75/15, P225 -75/15 or P225-70/15. All 4 tires must be
the same size.
GAS TANKS
43. Tanks must be
installed above trunk floor, as far forward as possible and securely mounted.
O.E.M. gas tank or a 6
gallon marine type steel tank may be used. Fuel cells recommended.
44. Fuel lines will not
be allowed in drivers compartment. Fuel line from
trunk to engine
compartment must be steel or steel braided. NO copper or rubber.
SAFETY
45. Hans, Hutchens or
neck collar and window nets are mandatory.
46. A four-post roll cage
is required with door bars in driver's door only. Padding the roll bars is
mandatory.
47. Battery must be
safely and securely mounted with a steel strap. A battery that is mounted
inside the driver's area must be located directly behind the driver's seat
and covered.
48. A complete firewall
must seal trunk area from driver's compartment.
49. All driver's must use an approved five
point safety harness with crotch belt. Racing seats
recommended.

in these rules will be left to the discretion of the track officials.
Track officials reserve the
right to inspect any part of any car at any time. ILLEGAL parts will be
confiscated and
kept.
