Mt Lawn postpones Raintree 100 until next Saturday

Because of the extreme heat Central Indiana had been experiencing and the forecast of temperatures in the upper 90’s for Saturday Mt Lawn Speedway officials have decided in the interest of fans and drivers safety to postpone the races including the Raintree 100 scheduled for June 30.  The Raintree is rescheduled for next Saturday night July 7.  According to Rick Sweigart track owner, “This year’s Raintree has been shaping up as one of the most competitive in recent years, several drivers have a legitimate chance to win.  The extreme heat would not only have an adverse effect on the driver and fans but also the race cars.  After talking with several of the competitors I felt it is best to postpone the Raintree and try our luck next week.  As the forecast turned out we did have a shower at the track around 8 PM but we could have probably gotten the show in without a hitch as area storms and heavy cloud cover prevented the temperatures from climbing as predicted. ”

The entire racing program will start Saturday night as 7:30 with Thunder Cars, Hornets, Rookie Hornets and Street Drags with the Raintree green flag scheduled to drop at 8:45.
