Dustin Sapp of Greenfield who was making his second start at Mt Lawn finished a close second followed by a hard charging Jason Walker of Sulphur Springs. Lap 14 of the Hornet 25 lap feature saw the first car of 2012 get on its top. Emily Henderson of New Castle got squeezed into the backstretch wall and ended up upside down bringing out the red flag. After a quick response by rescue personnel Henderson was able to unbuckle and remove herself from the car uninjured. Henderson said after the races that she was fine but probably would be a little sore in the morning. Nick Warner of Anderson picked up his first feature for 2012 at Mt Lawn after taking the lead from Alex Bailey of New Castle on lap 21. Randy Owen of Anderson took the lead on lap one and built a sizable lead on second place but the Henderson accident took that lead away on the restart. Andy Jennings of Richmond led lap 15 and Bailey was the leader from lap 16 to 21. Bailey finished second followed by Andy Jennings, Owen, Joseph Jennings of Richmond, Keith Morris of New Castle, Jeff Sorrell of New Castle, Chris Jennings of Richmond, Lenny Tungate of New Castle, Cody Riley of Middletown, Henderson, Scott Kilgore of New Castle and David McConnell of Shirley. Warner set fast time at 19.567 with Tungate and Chris Jennings winning the heats.
