Welcome rain falls on Mt Lawn Speedway
Some much needed rain caused the cancellation of Saturday nightís Founders Day 50ís at the Mt Lawn Speedway Saturday night.†
Qualifications got underway on time and Jason Thompson of Shirley paced the Late Models with a time of 16.851 which is the fastest time posted in 2012.† VanHoy Oil Thunder Cars were headed by Wes Russell Sr. of Muncie at 18.543; Taylor Wyman of Selma was quickest in the Hornets at 19.663 while Ben VanDyke of Morristown led the Rookie Hornets at 20.493.† Wes Russell Jr. of Muncie won the Late Model dash for cash, Russell Sr. picked up the dash cash in the VanHoy Oil Thunder Cars, Larry Hughes Jr. of Greensboro was the Hornet dash winner and VanDyke won the Rookie Hornet Dash.† Late Model Heats went to Thompson and David McConnell of Shirley.† Just as the Rookie Hornet Heat cars were coming to the track Mt Lawn officials had the grandstands cleared because of intense thunder storm with significant lighting that was approaching.† Within a few minutes after the grandstands were cleared the sky let loose with a downpour causing the remainder of the show to be cancelled.†
Late Models, Rookie Hornets and Street Drags will be on the racing program next Saturday night August 11 along with 50 lap features in the Thunder Car and Hornet divisions.
Rain checks will be honored this Saturday night or any other regular season program during 2012.†
