Extravaganza this Sunday at Mt Lawn
This Sunday afternoon Mt Lawn Speedway will host a Stock Car
Extravaganza with Thunder Cars, Pro Compacts, Crown Vics and Factory Stock
Compacts in action. Over 50 cars have
already pre entered for the event with several more expected to enter on race
day.
Thunder Cars are the headline event with nineteen cars
already entered will be going 150 laps for a first place payday to the winner
of $1500. Early entrants include Mt Lawn
regulars Jameson Owens of Indianapolis, Tony Stewart of Straughn, A.J. Stewart
of Straughn, Josh Owens of New Castle, David McConnell of Shirley, Eli Haynes
of New Castle, Frankie Oakes of Cambridge City, Alan Lambert of Kennard, Jerod
Henderson of Kennard, Dustin Sapp of Indianapolis, Johnny Magee of Carthage and
Bill Clark of Rushville. Shadybowl
Speedway drivers Andy Pine of Urbana, Ohio and Patrick Woods of Christiansburg,
Oh entered to represent the State of Ohio.
Anderson Speedway participants Robbie Wyman of Muncie, Earl Adams of Pendleton
and Ron Adams of New Castle are also entered.
Pro Compacts have Terry Neal of New Castle, TJ Fannin of New
Castle, Josh White of New Castle, Brandon Cook of New Castle, Greg Smith of
Louisville, KY, Adam Lee of New Castle, Sam Stout of Castalia, Oh and Brett
Smith of Richmond pre entered.
Crown Vics pre entries include A.J. Stewart, Dustin King of
Muncie and Robert Bryant representing Mt Lawn.
Indianapolis Speedrome drivers committed include Tyler Conley of Indy,
Tyler Terry, Josh Fults of Greenwood and Zach Detches of Noblesville. The Sportsdrome in Jeffersonville Indiana is
sending drivers Chuck Freeman of Fisherville, KY and Daniel Durrett of Brooks
Ky.
Stock Compact entrants calling Mt Lawn their home track
include Matt Stewart of Straughn, Brad Miller of New Castle, Brent Butler of
Knightstown, Adam Lee of New Castle, Corbin Kidd of New Castle, Donnell Boykin
of New Castle, Chris Jennings of Richmond and Will Jennings of Richmond. Anderson Speedway drivers include Colin
Garrison of Anderson, Shane Reed of Muncie, Gary Stevens of Muncie, and Randy
Owen of Anderson. Indianapolis Speedrome
entrants include Christopher Gray of Bloomington, Donald VanValkenburg III of
Greenwood and Jess Holiday of Indy.
Practice is available through the week by contacting the
track in advance. A scheduled open
practice session will be Saturday from Noon until 6:00 with free hotdogs while
the supply lasts to those in the pits starting at 1:00. Cost of practice is $10 per person in the pits
with the grandstand free.
On race day the Pit Gate will open at noon with practice
getting underway at 2:00. The Grandstand
gate opens at 3:00 with qualifications starting at 3:30. Fan Appreciation activities will begin at
4:30 with an on track meet and greet the drivers which will allow fans to get
their favorite driver’s autograph and take some pictures. Many of the drivers will have candy and
photos of the cars to be given away.
Other fan appreciation activities will include a nickel scramble and big
wheel races for kids ages 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8.
The Invocation and National Anthem is scheduled for 5:25 with racing
action getting underway at 5:30. If
everything goes as planned the final feature event is scheduled for 8:10.
Ticket prices are $13 for adults with children 12 and under free. Mt Lawn is located at 1494 S CR 400 W in New
Castle.
