Rain halts
Mt Lawn races
Shortly after the
Stock Compact feature was completed and the Crown Vic division was on the track
taking the green flag the rain came cancelling the rest of the evening’s
program.
Gaige Hulett of
Anderson took the lead of the 25th lap Stock Compact feature on lap 16. Hulett started 14th in the 18 car
field and slowly moved up through the traffic for the win. Jarrett Smith of Shirley finished second
followed by Darrell Thompson of New Castle, Jeffery Alexander of Shirley, Trey
Thompson of New Castle, Brachelle Wisner of Anderson, Dakota Clark of New
Castle, Ty Palmer of Indianapolis, Bailey Pauwels of New Castle and Josh Whitt
of Plymouth. Wisner set fast time at
19.769 with Whitt and Chris Hodson of Anderson taking the heats.
Other heat winners
were David Logsdon of New Castle, Wes Duvall of Cambridge City and Chuck Cook
of Wilkinson in the Crown Vics. Mod
heats went to Alan Lambert of Kennard and Adam Lee of Westwood with the Pro
Comp heats to Brett Smith of Richmond and Travis Lee of Kennard.
Next week’s program
will consist of 7 feature events plus the MLF (Mt Lawn Female) minivan race
which will be a 15 minute enduro race for only female drivers. According to staff sources there are 10 +
minivans that have indicated they will be in competition.
Because rain stopped
the track activity after the Stock Compact feature the Crown Vics, Pro Compacts
and Modifieds did not get to run their features there will be double features
in those three classes plus the single feature in the Stock Compacts this week. As a result of getting the one feature in
Saturday night rain checks will not be honored for admission this
Saturday. White rain checks from the
previous rainout are still good for admission, green rain checks are not.
The ticket price for
this week’s exciting program is $10 with 8 years old and younger free. The pit gate opens at 2:00; grandstand gate
and practice open at 4:00 followed by group qualifying with racing starting
promptly at 7:00.
