Multiple Yellow flags turn Golden for Gossar at Mt Lawn

The 20025 racing season came to an end last Saturday evening at Mt Lawn Speedway with the running of the 100 lap Crown Vic Challenge sponsored by Quality Builders, a fifteen  minute Enduro for Grocery Getters and a 15 lap event for MLF’s (Mt Lawn Females) driving Mini Vans.

In the Crown Vic Challenge 47 cars took the green flag with Austin McIntyre of Muncie leading the first 7 laps when Billy Riddle of Anderson took over.  The first yellow came out on lap 17 causing the first of many double file restarts. McIntyre took back the lead on lap 18 until Randy Owen of Anderson took over took him on lap 21. The second yellow came out on lap 20.   The next yellow’s came out on lap 25, 31, 42, and   59 with Owen still leading until Drew Evans of Shirley took over the top spot on lap 72.  The yellow on lap 59 came as a result of a spin from Chuck Cook of Wilkinson and Evans.  Cook indicated the he may have caused the incident and therefore only he had to restart at the tail of the field.  The final yellow came out on lap 75 creating a 25 lap dash to the finish.  Evans led until lap 90 but received heavy pressure fast qualifier Caleb Burge of Anderson, Trent Gossar of Markleville and Owen.  Burge got the lead on lap 91 but Evans took the lead back on lap 96.  Evans took the white flag on lap 99 and looked like the sure winner but Gossar had other plans and took the lead and the checkered flag to win the 100 lap Crown Vic Challenge. Gossar led on 1 lap of the 100 but it was the lap that really counted.

The race leaders were McIntyre (1-7 and 18-20), Riddle (8-17), Owen (21-71) Evans (72-90 and 96-99), Burge (91-95) and finally Gossar (100).  There were seven cautions. The race took 1:48 to complete. Margin of victory .328 seconds.
